Mitzvah | Mitzvah & Tzedakah Projects

The Israel Guide Dog Center offers students an opportunity to sponsor puppies for their Mitzvah Project or Class Tzedakah campaigns. It costs $1,000 to supply food and medicine for a puppy during the first year. Many Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah students have found creative ways to not only raise funds – but also help raise awareness of the needs of Israel’s visually impaired – and the critical role of guide dogs. We will gladly send a list of the creative, hands-on projects that students have done. Mitzvah Projects are an excellent way for young people to volunteer for a social action project that makes a difference! Plenty of information will be supplied that the Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah students can use to prepare for their D’var Torah – the discussion of their portion during services.

After selecting us for their project, students will learn about the needs of people who are blind or visually impaired and the obstacles they must overcome. We want them to feel connected to an amazing project in Israel and know that – through their effort – they are helping people in need. Please visit our center in Israel so you can all see the results of their hard work. There may also be an opportunity to take a blindfold walk through an obstacle course to experience the feeling of a guide dog leading the way.

Bar Mitzvah projects and Bat Mitzvah projects are a great way for students to become involved in helping blind and visually impaired people in Israel to regain their freedom and independence.
