We promote activities for visually impaired Israelis that provide a way to socialize and exercise at the same time!  CanVelo was formed in conjunction with the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind and matched our blind clients with sighted volunteers who participate in a tandem bike club.  This year, we are trying something different - Dragon Boat Racing!



CanVelo triumphs in New York's Five Borough Bike Event

Five members of the CanVelo bike club (plus several US supporters) completed the 42-mile ride through the five boroughs of New York City on May 1, 2011. 



Tandem Teams Coming to New York

Two blind riders with two sighted volunteers are coming from Israel to compete in a bike race in New York on May 1, 2011.



Gadi and Noach complete NYC Marathon!
Gadi Yarkoni and Noach Braun completed the New York City Marathon on 7 November 2010.


Blind Veteran running NY Marathon
Gadi Yarkoni, an IDF Veteran blinded in Lebanon will run the New York City Marathon with Noach Braun.

A special reception was held in Toronto on June 21, 2010 featuring Haim Goldenberg, Mentalist and also TV and Movie personality Harvey Atkin.  Guy Simchi with his guide dog Turner was on hand to talk about how Turner has changed his life.

Consul General of Israel in NY - Asaf Shariv and his family welcomed us into their home on February 24, 2010 for a very special "Friend-raising" event.

Sponsor a future guide dog and help us to provide the love and support that is so crucial during the first year of a puppy’s life. The cost to raise a puppy is $1000, which includes all of their food, toys and immunizations. We see to it that the puppies are raised in a nurturing and enriched environment to prepare them for the important work that they will do. In less than two years, these amazing animals will make a profound difference in the life of someone who is visually impaired.
