A Journey to Two Sources of Strength: from the Temple in Jerusalem to Our Very Own Sanctuary

Septmber 29, 2010

Our journey will begin in the Holy City of Jerusalem during the Festival of Sukkot (Tabernacles), an important pilgrimage festival--we will fulfill the commandment of going up to Jerusalem. From the Holy City we will follow the path of the pilgrims and descend westward to our own sanctuary, (the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind).

Along the way, we will pass greening orchards bursting with fruit and take a dip in the cool mountain spring of water flowing abundantly into the ancient agricultural pools.Tandem bike ride

We will travel across the land where the children of Jacob settled and visit where Samson confronted the Philistines and David set off in pursuit of Goliath.

Later in the day we will arrive at the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind and provide an opportunity for the riders to meet with guide dog trainers as well as blind people assisted by guide dogs.

Total distance, first day: 80 kilometers

September 30, 2010

Riding awayThe ride will focus on integration. We will set out from Jaffa where Muslim and Jews live side by side. From Jaffa, we will ride to the White City, Tel Aviv, which is the ultimate symbol of Israeli westernization. Then we will ride in Hayarkon Park the large urban green belt. From Hayarkon Park we will head to the sources of the Yarkon River, near where the, "dreamers who believed in the impossible" successfully established the mother of all communities, Petah Tikvah  The ride will then conclude in Hayarkon Park.

Total distance, second day: 45 kilometers

The route may change at the discretion of the organizers depending on changing circumstances.

Sponsor a puppy

Sponsor a future guide dog and help us to provide the love and support that is so crucial during the first year of a puppy’s life. The cost to raise a puppy is $500, which includes all of their food, toys and immunizations. We see to it that the puppies are raised in a nurturing and enriched environment to prepare them for the important work that they will do. In less than two years, these amazing animals will make a profound difference in the life of someone who is visually impaired.
