Consul General of Israel in NY - Asaf Shariv and his family welcomed us into their home on February 24, 2010 for a very special "Friend-raising" event.
We are very grateful to the Shariv family for their wonderful support of our efforts to raise awareness of our programs.
We have a long history with the Consul General's office - as they are responsible for the Shidduch between Noach Braun and Norman Leventhal our co-founders. Noach had sought assistance from the Consul back in 1986 and they recommended that Noach speak with Norman. The rest, as they say, is history.
One of our graduates - Moti Levy with his guide dog Sammy - was in attendance and did an outstanding job of discussing the importance of having a guide dog born, raised and trained in Israel.

In this photo, Consul General Shariv is accepting an engraved Jerusalem stone from Noach Braun.
Special thanks to Francine Raubvogel of the Consul's office for her outstanding efforts to make this a very successful event.
Amit Bar-El was a soldier fighting house-to-house during the 2006 Lebanon War. As he rushed to the aid of a wounded comrade, Amit opened a door only to have a rocket fly past and explode in the wall next to him. He received multiple shrapnel wounds
