On Saturday, September 13, 2014
Eli Yablonek and his guide dog Glen will be in
Central Park participating in a tandem bike event.
West 67th & Central Park beginning at 10:00 AM.
Put on a blindfold and ride on the back of a tandem bike!
This is just a warm-up for a very special bike event:
Eli Yablonek fought valiantly as a tank commander during the Yom Kippur War, and was awarded the Ot Mofet, one of Israel's highest citations. During the battle, Eli's tank was hit by a missile and he lost his arm and his vision. This amazing man wanted to get on with his life, so he got a guide dog to lead the way, and he became very involved in sports. As a member of the CanVelo tandem bike club, Eli rides almost every weekend.
Eli is coming to New York to ride with CanVelo USA - a newly formed bike club that raises awareness of the needs of blind Israelis and is connected with the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind.
Two Routes: 25 miles with some hills & 35 miles with challenging hills.
Details about the two options will be available at the start of the ride.
Suggested Donation is $50 to benefit the
Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind
Includes lunch & a FREE custom CanVelo biking jersey for new riders
