Mitzvah & Tzedakah Projects

We offer students an opportunity to sponsor puppies for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Projects or Class Tzedakah campaigns. It costs $1,000 to raise a puppy during the first year, and many students have found creative ways to not only raise funds - but more importantly - to help raise awareness of the growing needs of the visually impaired.

If you are interested in animals, assisting people who are visually impaired, helping people to resume a productive life and making a connection with an organization in Israel - this is the perfect project for you.

This class made us their tzedakah projectAs a Puppy Sponsor you will learn about the everyday obstacles that make life difficult for visually impaired Israelis, and how you can help them gain independence, mobility and freedom through the use of a guide dog. Click here to learn more about the process. You will also learn about the vital relationship between a Guide Dog and a blind Israeli. Everything from companionship to the new-found active and independent lifestyle made possible through the pairing. Then, at the end of your Bar or Bat Mitzvah studies, you will have an opportunity to share your project experiences with the congregation, explaining how you have grown through this process and what you have learned about assisting the Jewish community. It's quite a rewarding and emotional project for all involved, as well as a wonderful way for you to feel a part of the Jewish community both at home and in the State of Israel.

We would like to send you a comprehensive package of materials to help you to get started. The package includes:

  • Brochures and other general information
  • Mitzvah Project Ideas

Sponsor a puppy

Sponsor a future guide dog and help us to provide the love and support that is so crucial during the first year of a puppy’s life. The cost to raise a puppy is $1000, which includes all of their food, toys and immunizations. We see to it that the puppies are raised in a nurturing and enriched environment to prepare them for the important work that they will do. In less than two years, these amazing animals will make a profound difference in the life of someone who is visually impaired.
